It’s that time of year again, only Congress has played with us a little bit. We “fall back” one hour tonight and get a blessed extra hour of sleep. The one that comes to haunt us happens almost a month earlier now in March, thanks to our Congressmen who evidently didn’t have anything better to legislate. In August 2005, Congress passed an energy bill that included extending Daylight Saving Time by about a month. As of this year, DST starts the second Sunday of March and ends on the first Sunday of November.
Congress may think they have the capacity to play with our time, but really, only God has this kind of amazing power. The One who created time itself is the only One powerful enough to hold the Earth still and alter time. One fascinating story in Scripture is when God allows time to stand still for Joshua to have daylight for about an extra day to defeat an army (see Joshua 10:12-13) and another place is where God moves back the dial of Ahaz or sundial ten degrees for King Hezekiah after Isaiah prayed on his behalf (see 2 Kings 20:8-11.) Now that’s really changing the clock. We serve a mighty God!
Very good word Annie. I didn’t put forth the thought of “time change” and what God has done with time in scripture.
I’m so glad you came by my blog.
I’ll be sure to visit you again.
Enjoy the extra sleep tonight too.
I will!
Blessings~
