Over the past few months, my family has closed some business together, and it is a wonderful feeling of freedom. For the past six or so years, I have stated “New Year’s Resolutions” that 200? would be the year when the final dealings would be wrapped up as a gift to each of us. End of year brings so much paperwork and tax accounting that, at times, it causes me to be somewhat of a martyr and a grump about it. My family is truly sweet about things, but somebody has to do it, and it was logical and practical for me to try to take care of it. Today, I am finishing up the paperwork, giving an accounting to my brother and sister, and hopefully, being a good steward to my parents’ hard work and accomplishment. However, several months ago, I mentioned that we were all done with the business, only to discover early in December that there was indeed a portion of property that had not sold, but there was a buyer for it. God gave us the gift not to worry, believing we were completely out of the deal. It turns out this piece of property held the greatest liability to us in insurance and worry and it will be the last to sell. Tomorrow, we will close on this piece and, at last, we can rest knowing the chapter is finally closed after thirteen years. I am happy to report we are all still talking and get along well. I hope you’re proud of us, Mom and Dad. We love you, and miss you even more on days like these.

Annie, I understand. It was a relief when we finally got all the estate stuff completed after Dad passed away – miss them, but as you said, they would be proud. happy for you!

I know Mom would be both relieved and proud. It is indeed finally over. My words of thanks seem really shallow, but if it were not for God’s grace and you, this would have never been completely resolved. And just to think that we really still love each other and are speaking!:) See you this afternoon!
