Never one to be intimidated by controversial subjects like religion or politics, today my mind is on both. I know we hardly have begun this Presidential campaign and I am already tired, so tired. I am not sure who I am going to vote for yet, and though you might think I would be an easy stereotype as a Christian conservative, I will tell you I might surprise you. I am interested in one main issue this year, and I don’t see any of the candidates with a particularly good plan to address it. I do care about healthcare and immigration, sanctity of life, the economy, education, and our children, but who doesn’t? I don’t hear any major plans to resolve these issues either.
However, I am most concerned about our country losing its strength as an international power. I don’t see peace as imminent and have enough years under my graying hair to know sometimes peace requires war. Sometimes people have to fight for what they believe. Sometimes the world needs to know you mean business and will not tolerate cowardice acts of violence against helpless innocents. I hate war, but I am so thankful we have brave men and women volunteering to fight on our behalf to insure peace in our homeland. We are desperately in need of strong leadership that understands international policy and can again make this country the responsible world leader in moral character and power.
Right now, I don’t see any of the candidates with that kind of strength or understanding. I don’t know if anyone is smart enough to figure out how to thwart a plan of evil where terrorists have been brainwashed to believe they will die out of hatred. Until this generation, it was reasonable to assume an honor code for war and sanctity for life, particularly for innocent civilians. Now, nothing can be taken for granted. All we can do is pray to the Lord to again find favor with this country and give His blessing. After reading Job recently, I claim this Scripture: Job 42:2 says “I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted.” Victory will require a mighty intervention from God. Would you stand with me and pray, particularly during this time of change for our country, to again seek Him and His favor, especially for the brave men and women who are fighting on our behalf, and for God to anoint the one (whoever that might be) to be His servant leader over this country? I don’t know, but I am asking for His wisdom to vote accordingly.
Brave words, Annie. I will pray. This issue has been dear to my heart, also.
2 Chr. 7:14 “and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
Jean
I’ll pray. I have to keep reminding myself that God’s will is sovereign and that He has a plan. Not necessarily one that I understand, but one that suits Him.
I’ll join! I am praying about the vote too.
I’m praying for our leadership, too. And… I’m already tired of all the negative campaign strategies. I still have no idea who I will vote for. Great Scripture to claim!
Have a great time with Bev today!
Love,
Angie xoxo
Annie,
My devotion verse this morning:
Psalm 111:10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom
I’m with you to seek the Lord on this one. I also pray that under whoever is president that this country will stand together truly united.
Oh you get to see Bev today!!! How exciting! Tell her hello from me too. I’m glad she’s able to make it. Ya’ll have a wonderful time together!
Blessings in Christ-
Oh yes! This was good! I would love some of His wisdom and His insight on the next president!!
May the Prince of Peace show His favor on us all.
Have a great weekend! Tell that darling Bev (saw comment above!) hello from her #1 imaginary fan.
Hugs to you both.
Fran
