the music lingers

Last evening, three of my dearest friends and I were the blessed recipients of a music concert with Fernando Ortega and Phillips, Craig, and Dean. The music was custom ordered for our weary hearts. We were certain Someone called ahead. The lyrics, the melodies, and, most especially, the one Direction to Whom they pointed all left us powerfully impacted–renewed. Lord, don’t let it be for a moment, but a lifetime.

Here are a few pictures and a song for you. I hope you have three minutes to listen and let these words fall on you by Fernando Ortega from his album, “Fernando Ortega – Hymns of Worship.”

Jesus, King of angels, heaven’s light,
Shine Your face upon this house tonight.
Let no evil come into my dreams;
Light of heaven, keep me in Your peace.

Remind me how You made dark spirits flee, And spoke Your power to the raging sea.
And spoke Your mercy to a sinful man;
Remind me, Jesus, this is what I am.

CHORUS:
The universe is vast beyond the stars,
But You are mindful when the sparrow falls, And mindful of the anxious thoughts That find me, surround me, and bind me . . . .

With all my heart I love You, Sovereign Lord.
Tomorrow, let me love You even more.
And rise to speak the goodness of Your name Until I close my eyes and sleep again.

Jesus, King of angels, heaven’s light,
Hold my hand and keep me through this night.

  1. His voice is so soothing and draws you straight to the throne of God. Thanks for posting this. He was in concert at our church last month. I was priveleged to hear a small concert before church and the Spirit was so strong, I fell to my knees and would have gotten on my face if it wouldn’t have freaked everyone out. Scripture songs can really move us and they are straight from Him. So glad you were blessed and now you have blessed the rest of us…Blessings.

  2. Thank you for sharing that song with me tonight. It’s the perfect prayer before I close my eyes in about 2 minutes! I couldn’t be happier for you and your friends to be able to share an evening together, worshiping our Sovereign Lord!
    Love you,
    Angie xoxo

  3. I am so blessed by this music. I will listen to praise music all the way to La Porte (as if 50 miles is soooo far away) tonight and tomorrow.

    Have a great weekend.

    Love, Annette
