Micah 6:8 (The Message) “But he’s already made it plain how to live, what to do, what God is looking for in men and women. It’s quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor, be compassionate and loyal in your love. And don’t take yourself too seriously—take God seriously.”
Goodness knows if I get this one down, I will see transformation in my life. I love the way The Message puts this verse in such simple language that even I understand it. But that won’t be enough just to comprehend it. This one requires some serious application. Do what is fair, be compassionate and loyal, and for the sake of the Lord, don’t take anything too seriously but God. In my theme of contentment for 2009, here is wisdom and truth that place my feet on a path that center on God.
In my devotional this morning, so like God, it spoke to me of the importance of planting the Word, applying it deep in my heart, and not just thinking, yeah, that’s a wonderful message. If you only hear the Word, and even agree with it, that requires no faith whatsoever. We must act on it. It must effect change in the life of the hearer. So as we study these verses together and tuck them away in our hearts, may we be transformed by the actions they compel us to folllow. Let us lock His Word in our heart and set our affections on it. His Words are life and health and truth. They are the substance of our lives.
