You will never know the extent of your selfless love this side of heaven. You are the heroes in our our lives. You have been entrusted with the future of our world. Never underestimate the importance and the impact you have as a mom. To all the mothers and grandmothers and future moms and foster moms and wannabe moms–you change our world to make it a better place. Bless the fruit of your work and settle your heart to know you are doing a very noble thing. You are the one responsible to “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
You are a shining light in my life, Mother, ever over my shoulder whispering words of wisdom and calling me back to the firm foundation you set for me. High expectations were a part of the deal. You knew we could do anything with the help of Christ Jesus, and you always called us to be better than what we might have been. You loved us in the most unselfish way I have ever known. I miss you more than words can say. But I celebrate you and the Godly inheritance of the strong women who have gone before me in my family line. You call me to greatness, even if it is in the little world that I have been entrusted with. Our children are the hope of our country and our world. Their success as compassionate, socially conscious, and Godly men and women of God all depend on the influence of a mother who prays, and who guides with a gentle hand and a supportive heart.
Though my mother endured insurmountable hardships, she did not pass that baggage on to her three chidren. She dealt with it in mostly healthy ways, and she, of all whom I have ever known, had a Grace surrounding her that became her peace, and ultimately her saving lifeline through cancer and death. I’ll always love you, Mom. You were a rock of strength for me, and a remarkable woman who overcame and pointed to God in every victory.
Happy Mother’s Day. Never tire of doing well. You may not see the fruits of your labor for a while, but hang in there. The best is yet to come. He is ever faithful. And your work is for kingdom glory. It’s a powerful role, perhaps one of the most influential places to be. So, today we celebrate Mothers, both our own and every mom who has given selflessly for the greater good of another. Christ is pleased. Love and prayers for you this day.
