a welcomed break

Today, the high will be 97 degrees and sunny. Imagine that. It isn’t very difficult to do. Just like yesterday, but not like tomorrow. We get a break! Our good friends moved to Santa Fe, and we are going to visit. We will get a reprieve in higher altitudes. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bluer sky than in the southwest. I am sure someone could explain how the atmosphere is clearer, or the dryness of the air lends a sharper image of the sky to our eyes–I don’t know, nor do I really care that much, except to appreciate that shade of blue! We’ll get in a little shopping, and some good southwest-Mex food and enjoy great company for the long weekend. So, I will bless Him on the mountaintops about many things, including my thankfulness for each of you. Not sure if there are internet connections in the desert mountains, but if there are, I’ll try to sneak away for a little visit with you.

Summer afternoon – summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.
– Henry James
19th Century novelist

I hope you have a wonderful weekend. I remember a church in the square with a spiral staircase. Will you be visiting Glorieta?

Somehow God seems even bigger amongst His creation. I am counting down to the Labor Day weekend when I will be sitting on the banks of the Rio Grande praising His Holy Name!

    Enjoy your trip dear sister.

And as for Henry James, if he lived in TX before AC, he would have said: Spring afternoon – Spring afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language along with fall afternoon fall afternoon, summer is over.
